Leyton Orient 1 Scunthorpe United 4, 31/1/15

A game which... demonstrated that something is rotten in the state of Orient. Yes, prepare yourself for a load of Hamlet references because our club is currently gripped by a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. Manager meltdowns, subterfuge, whistleblowing, impropriety... we've got it all.

And somewhere in the middle of all that a football match broke out. Or at least it did for the 11 surprised Scunthorpe players who found themselves able to run around the pitch freely and score at will. Orient, meanwhile, were "a team without guts, without heart, without courage" according to Fabio Liverani. And while his assessment was correct, you wouldn't blame the players for responding "Yeah, and without any fucking tactics either, gaffer."

Jump off your seat moment... The moment Gianvito Plasmati's brain sent an electrical signal to his foot instructing it to shoot from 50 yards out. Who knows, the 6ft 6in Italian may have an impressive knowledge of Federico Fellini films, be able to tell his Sangiovese from his Sagrantino, or be a gentle and generous lover, but a footballer he ain't. Need I bother telling you his 50-yard shot bobbled apologetically towards the corner flag? Need I bother pointing out that that is a fitting metaphor for Orient's entire season?

Darius Henderson
Give that man a medal... I'm tempted to give a medal to PA Phillip Othen for actually having the audacity to announce an Orient man of the match. But let's be extremely generous and say that when Darius Henderson came on for the second half he at least put himself about a bit, albeit in the manner of a malfunctioning bulldozer that by the law of averages manages to go in the right direction once in every 27 minutes.

Taxi for... The whole team, according to Fabio Liverani, who claimed he needs 11 new players. But let me for the sake of making a stupid analogy to brain surgery single out Bradley Pritchard. Now, the former Charlton man works hard, for sure – but if I decided to try my hand at brain surgery tomorrow and put a real shift in, I doubt anyone would be congratulating me on the ensuing bloodbath. Or to put it another way: Pritch is just too lightweight and too limited for League One. And what the hell was Liverani doing playing him right midfield when we had a Premier League winger on the bench anyway?

"Fuck the technical shit..." Should we sympathise with Fabio Liverani for being given the poisoned chalice of Leyton Orient management? Or should we suggest that despite the accuracy of his post-match comments he might have better saved them for the dressing room if he wanted to retain even a shred of hope of motivating and gelling the team? Probably both, but for the moment let me point out that from my West Stand vantage point just behind the home dug out it is 100 per cent clear that the players do not understand a word of what Liverani is instructing them to do. Indeed, they tend to receive the information wearing the sort of bewildered, terrified expressions usually seen on the faces of girls being chatted up by Jimmy Smith.

Meanwhile on YouTube... "We scratched the bottom," said Fabio Liverani on Saturday. Well, on Sunday we took to it with an industrial chainsaw with the release of this video of lip-synching Italians, which is quite possibly the low point of the club in its entire 134-year history. Watch it and weep that it has come to this...

Leyton Orient 1 Scunthorpe United 3, 15/12/12

A game in which... Orient were flatter than a flatfish that's just been sat on by Jonathan Tehoue. The first half was entirely uneventful; the second had events - unfortunately those events were mostly Scunthorpe goals.

Still, the mixture of luck, fluke, accident and miracle that allowed Orient to win eight games in a row was always going to come to an end at some point. What's important is that today's result doesn't send us spinning in the opposite direction.

Moment of magic... Difficult to pick out a moment of magic in a game in which Orient's only shot on target was a penalty. Too many players had an off day today - Rowlands, James, Cook, Cox for starters - so let's instead celebrate the South Stand fan dressed up as Santa who was ejected from the ground. Apparently it was for shouting "Sleighed out". (Blame Bill Badger for that joke, not me.)

Moment of madness... The point at which the entire Orient team apparently thought to themselves, "Well, if there's any time to take a quick nap, it's now" just as Scunthorpe took the free-kick that resulted in their second goal. Indeed, so sluggish were the players throughout the match that if you'd flung some salt at them after the final whistle they would have shrivelled up and died.

Knight in shining armour... All hail the League One Player of the Month, Kevin Lisbie. The former Charlton man hadn't exactly been setting the world on fire for the few seasons before he joined Orient but he seems to have found his mojo in E10. And while at times he must feel like Noel Gallagher trying to jam with The Saturdays, long may his form continue.

Pantomime horse... Since it's panto season it was somehow appropriate that every time Gary Sawyer looked around in search of who he was supposed to be marking, the answer was invariably "He's behind you." Yes, the left back was in dire need of a fairy godmother to tell him "You shall go to the ball" - as it was, his performance was uglier than any ugly sister. Oh no it wasn't! Oh yes it was.

In the dug out... Thanks to his appearance at the AGM last week we now have an insight into Russell's mind. "Marc Laird wasn't the player I thought he was" he admitted, for example, suggesting perhaps he accidentally brought the midfielder to Brisbane Road when actually trying to hire a plumber. He also revealed he has a love/hate relationship with Dean Cox - Russell loves Cox; Cox hates Russell.

Meanwhile on Twitter... This week Dean Cox gave us a unique insight into his domestic affairs and the work he's doing to promote women's rights. "Get home and cook some dinner" he demanded of his girlfriend, who replied "Sorry, who do you think your talking to? you can have toast". But toast is hardly going to satisfy a growing lad like Deano (I presume he's still growing, right?). "Won't be living here much longer with that attitude" he tweeted back before issuing a plaintive - and hungry - cry to his sister: "Is mum up?"

Statto corner... The last time an Orient striker notched up nine goals before Christmas - as Kevin Lisbie has done - was when Steve Watts broke into the club secretary's office in 2001 after a night on the town with Jordan and credited eight of Carl Griffiths' strikes to himself.

Leyton Orient 1 Scunthorpe United 3, 18/2/12

Jon Parkin
A game in which... Scunthorpe started with one simple tactic: wrestling Orient players to the ground at every available opportunity. (And had even taken the bold step of employing Giant Haystacks as a lone striker to help them do so.) The Os dealt with this fairly effectively in the first half, such that in the second the Iron had to resort to playing actual football, something that Orient are clearly unable to cope with at Brisbane Road. So, yet again, an impressive away victory has been followed up by a woeful performance at home. Sigh.

Moment of magic... Scott Cuthbert's fingertip save in the final minutes after he'd taken the gloves in place of the injured Lee Butcher, instantly elevating him above Stuart Nelson, Glenn Morris, Ashley Bayes and Lee Harrison in the list of Orient's best goalkeepers of this century.

Moment of madness... Jon Parkin's ludicrous decision to shoot from near on 40 yards in the second half. His effort - which looped apologetically towards the corner flag - bore all the finesse of a rhinoceros trying to perform Swan Lake.

Knight in shining armour... Once again selecting an Orient man of the match is like trying to figure out which is the best episode of Piers Morgan's Life Stories. The answer, of course, is none of them. Lisbie worked hard, Ryan Dickson seemed solid and debutant Soloman Taiwo looked vaguely promising - like an incomplete version of Stephen Dawson with less inclination to mouth off to opposing players and the referee.

Dean Leacock
Pantomime horse... Russell Slade described Dean Leacock as his 'Rolls Royce', though unfortunately on this underwhelming performance the defender was more reminiscent of a malfunctioning Kia Picanto.

In the dug out... Russell Slade made a real slip-up today - and I don't just mean his decision to bring on David Mooney. The manager actually slipped over in the rain, which would have been funny save for the fact that Jonathan Tehoue clearly interpreted the gesture as his instructions for the game and proceeded to follow suit for 90 minutes.

Andy Barcham
A word on the opposition... No surprise to see former O and part-time Shrek impersonator Andy Barcham get on the scoresheet, and to be fair to Scunthorpe they took the game to the hosts in the second half and didn't look like a team that are sitting in the bottom four. Orient took that honour on their behalf.

Meanwhile on Twitter... George Porter is Orient's ladies' man-in-residence on Twitter and frequently regales the opposite sex with tweety charmers that go along the lines of "Hey fit birds why don't U ware tighter clothes?" Valentine's Day, then, gave him a perfect opportunity to share the love. Instead, however, he tweeted this: "I bet that at least 75% per cent of people in a relationship have cheated on there partner.... happy valentines day you dreamers!! X" Charming. Still, Georgie's a little misunderstood, as he himself later explained: "I wish people would see me for who I am not my massive 6 pack haa."

Lesson for the day... Given that the main positive of the day was Scott Cuthbert's performance in goal, perhaps playing people out of their natural position is the way forward? Lee Butcher in midfield? Kevin Lisbie at left back? David Mooney as a striker? Oh, hang on...
